Important Message : Starting January 28th 2014 the campus.berkeley.edu Domain will require LDAP Signing.

Starting January 28th 2014 with the requirement of LDAP Signing Mac's with OS X version 10.6 or earlier will no longer be supported to join Campus AD. If you are running an earlier version of OS X you will need to upgrade to a supported version of at least 10.7 or higher. 

Steps to Update the configuration of a Mac OS X 10.7 or higher that is already a member of the Campus AD 

  1. Open  the Terminal application on your mac
  2. dsconfigad -packetencrypt ssl -packetsign require 

Alternate Configuration for Mac OS X 10.9 or higher that is already a member of the Campus AD, that receive error "Network Unavailable" when trying to login after using configuration above.

  1. Open the Terminal application on your mac
  2. dsconfigad -packetsign require

Steps to add a Mac to Campus AD

  1. Open the Terminal application on your mac
  2. Run the a command like the one below replacing the appropriate values
    dsconfigad -force -add campus.berkeley.edu -ou "Full OU path to computer obect,DC=campus,DC=berkeley,DC=edu" -username "UserAccount with access to add to OU" -computer Computer to Add -packetencrypt ssl -packetsign required -password "Password to account that has rights to add computer" -localuser "Local Mac User Account" -localpassword "Mac Password"

    Example

    dsconfigad -force -add campus.berkeley.edu -ou "OU=Test,OU=SomeOU,DC=campus,DC=berkeley,DC=edu" -username pvt-AddMac -computer MyMac -packetencrypt ssl -packetsign require -password AddMac2Domain -localuser root -localpassword letmeIN!!!
